1) If Odysseus goes through so many challenges to build his reputation, would it not make more sense for Odysseus to gain the trust of his people again rather than Athene whipe the citizens memory?
2) Is there a purpose for the telling of the suitors souls descending into Hades?

Was Penelope clever for using the bed as a test to prove it was really Odysseus?
